Shelter for Cows in India
Man is selfish by nature. His care for animals is strictly restricted to the benefits derived from them. They are taken care of by humanfolk who seek some gain or benefit. The moment they stop giving the desired benefits, they are abandoned to their fate. The cow is considered to be a sacred animal by the majority section of the society. But still it is mishandled and maltreated as they grow old and are not in a position to give milk. The cows face many hardships and are devoid of shelter and food at this stage of life. Nobody is there to care about their health and nutrition. Seeing the sad state of affairs, Baba Amar Singh Ji decided upon opening a big spacious shelter for the cows in village Dina of Moga district in Punjab. This shelter has been operational since February 1997. It houses about 250 number of cows. These are looked after and taken care of by a group of villagers round the clock. The ladies of the neighborhood perform the service of cleaning the shelter every morning, sprinkle water around the area and provide drinking water to the herd of cows. The neighboring fields producing fodder for the cows are being managed under the supervision of Nanaksar Thath Isher Darbar. Baba Ji makes it a point to pay a visit at the Gaushala when in India as he believes that this is a real and true service to God.
